Just like NEW…Reconditioned yarn via wetting method described in previous post
and juggling around kids’ activities.
It’s first Friday Art Walk at QuiltWorks.
Kristin, our friend Erin, and I had our girl’s night out on the town. We were prepared to eat, drink, shop and be pampered…What a blast!
One of the highlights of the evening was meeting some talented quilters of Journeys Art Quilt Group and Phyllis Dickenson, a local quilting celebrity/former featured quilter of the Sister’s Quilt Show.
Smokechaser is a stunning piece of Phyllis’ work–vivid in color and intricate in design
using embroidery
and transferred photographs to great effect.
Use of personal mementos in Smokechaser is typical of Phyllis’ signature.
Each quilt she makes has a personal touch,
a family memento given new life in her creative, lively art.
Every quilt tells a story.
The down-to-earth avid quilter guru is always willing to share her wealth of knowledge with the inquisitive minds.
Off far left of Phyllis is her amazing grandson Kyle, a budding entrepreneur
proprietor of Better Boards, a big board ironing board business via BetterBoards@gmail.com

Journeys Art Quilt Group is a group of 14 local women
who seek to express their art passion through creating
and sharing the love of quilts
and fiber arts
and to stretch themselves
and each other to move beyond the boundaries of traditional quilt-making,
each of them developing their own unique style
and to go beyond the expected
and explore new dimensions,
techniques and materials
to make new
and unexpected original work of fiber quilt art.
You can sense their joy in doing so.
Art Quilt, like a mirror, reflects its maker…
truly remarkable…
most fun
and whimsical quilts I’ve seen in a long time.
Both Journey Quilters and Phyllis’ current show may be seen in the gallery at QuiltWorks—where materials meet inspiration–throughout the month of March. Thank you again, Marilyn and Dave Ulrich, and their fabulous team-player staff for another marvelous fabric feast–great food, good wine & beer, terrific raffle prizes & purchase discount, and awesome company!

Amazing quilts!!! So full of details. Thanks for sharing the pic. Making myself another cup of cofee to look closer at them.
Thank you so much for all of the gorgeous photos. So inspiring. I am sure everyone has a favorite, but they are all wonderful. Glad you had such a good time.
Those are stunning quilts! I only wish I were near enough to go see them in person. Failing that, you have presented them so well it's almost as though I were there. Thanks, Sarah.
Wonderful presentation Sarah! It was a fun evening, thanks for coming along.
