I am excited about using a large needle but a little put off with how the swatch looked, knitted flat. I wasn’t convinced that it’s doing the beautiful pattern justice due to the meddling stitches.
Originally, Dream In Color Groovy was the primary contender. I ditched the idea due to its bulkiness–probably won’t wear it much, if at all. A runner-up was a gorgeous purplish blue tweed in my stash that has identical yardage per gram as pattern sample that would look marvelous but it’s a wool/acrylic blend. I so want this to be all (or close) wool and without distraction in tweed. Subsequently, with all the swatch/wash/feel tests
Other two swatches in lace and in lattice
I settled with Stitch Nation AlpacaLove–80% wool/20% alpaca blend. After one full repeat of Slipped-Stitch Oval–knitted in rounds, it’s looking pretty amazing so far, an excellent substitute. It bloomed beautifully, after a soak, and looks/feels absolutely lovely–light, soft, and buoyant–perfect loftiness for faux cabled texture…with no itchy nose 😀
Stepping Stones is finished, bathed, smoothed out, pinned, and dried. I will snap some modeled shoots soon when weather permitting…
