Spinner Study

This month’s fiber study is Bombyx Silk and Border Leicester. I have silk but not the latter.
Romney, BFL & Mohair
While waiting to acquire some, I decided to play with the newly washed Romney, mohair locks, and Bluefaced Leicester (hand-dyed by me.) First, I hand-carded 2 grams each of the fibers into batt
Mohair, Romney & BFL Carded
next, spun with a Spindlewood Square Whorl mini
Mohair, Romney, & BFL Singles
then, plied singles together
Mohair, Romney & BFL Singles
and came up with 38.5 yards of this yarn–translating into 642 yards per 100 grams.
BFL, Romney, & Mohair 2-Ply
There’s a lovely luster and much softer than using Romney alone!
