A little bit of this and, a little bit of that, makes a little bit of me.

What a difference it makes by choosing the RIGHT sweater to reclaim. Unlike my first reclaiming project (still ongoing!), there is no surged edge in this sweater. Once THE LOOP identified to cut and unravel, the rest was a breeze, magic. First sleeve was unraveled in 15 minutes, measured, and wound in to a 2-oz yarn cake (approx. 338 yards; 57 grams.) Second sleeve was done in 5 minutes. Do you know these constitute half of the sweater! I will get about 1175-1200 yards of 4-ply fingering lace out of this Hong Kong made 100% Cashmere Large sweater by Evelyn Grace.

Please don’t chastise me for unraveling a perfect, beautiful, cabled sweater for yarn. It would cost me in a range of $100-$120 at a yarn shop. Instead, I paid $9.98 for 7-oz of deliciously soft Cashmere.

Frugal or cheap? Regardless, I am a happy camper!

Happy creating!

  1. Yay for you! Glad this one went more easily than the last. What a pretty color…one of my favorites. Can’t wait to see what you make with it. Happy creating!

  2. GREAT COLOR! And why not recycle? Double the joy.
