A little bit of this and, a little bit of that, makes a little bit of me.

Curve of Pursuit: Hearts

While teaching my 12-year-old how to do sewn bind-off in 2X2 Rib on her Spirogyra Fingerless Mitten last night, I explored some hearts in 8 different colorways thus far as a part of my ongoing free-form play/study. It’s relatively easy to grasp the designing concept and schematic–and fast to crochet them up (20 hearts completed so far.)

Not sure what it will become of these hearts in red, blue, and purple themes yet…afghan, throw, wrap–more pondering later.

CAST ON: August 15, 2008
CAST OFF: August 16, 2008
PATTERN: Springing Up Flowers Spa Cloth by Kristen Patay
NEEDLES: Hook Size F
YARN: About 16-17 yarns of Lily Sugar’n Cream Stripes in 144 Strawberry, 1740 Hot Pink, 181 Faded Denim, and Lion Brand Cotton Solid in 133 Paprika, 144 Grape, 147 Purple, 140 Rose, and 108 Morning Glory Blue for each motif.
COMMENTS: A skein of Sugar N Cream (144) made 6 hearts. Each motif takes up about 16 yards. This can be worked in anything from thread on up, just use the right hook for the fiber.

This evening, I made a couple of this alternative heart recipe here. It’s smaller in size–4”X4”– and stiffer than that of Conversation Hearts Scarf ones. What’s unexpectedly pleasing with this was I learned how to reverse single crochet–the edging is very lovely, a finishing I would use regularly now. (It’s the Heart Duo ones.)

Happy creating!
